Our House Rules
Gravesham Repair Café House Rules for visitors
- All repairs carried out by Gravesham Repair Café (GRC) are carried out at the customer’s own risk. We do not make a charge for our services, although donations are welcome, to cover costs including the purchase of tools and equipment and the development of the service.
- Neither the organisers of GRC nor the repairers are liable for any loss or injury whatsoever that may result from any repair carried out, or for any advice or instructions given and used later.
- Neither the organisers nor the repairers are liable for any accidental damage that may occur to visitors’ goods or personal effects during visitors’ time at the sessions.
- Repairers offer no guarantee for any repairs carried out with or without their help and are not liable if any repaired items do not work properly at home, or which break down again in the future. GRC takes no responsibility for any item, repaired or otherwise, once it has left the premises.
- All visitors are required to complete a registration form for GRC records before any repair can be considered. A separate form must be completed for each item in a different category.
- GRC are GDPR compliant, and all information is treated with the utmost confidentiality and never passed to a third party.
- We may take photographs during some sessions of the repair café for publicity purposes. If you would rather not be photographed, please let us know.
- Visitors are expected to remain with the repairer while the repair is being carried out. Items should not be left with the repairer and collected later. Sometimes repairers will offer to take the item home with them. This is a purely private arrangement and GRC take no responsibility for this. The repairer and visitor must exchange contact details in such a situation.
- The visitor is responsible for providing any consumables such as leads, plugs, fuses, zips etc that may be needed to fully complete a repair. Repairers will advise you about what is required.
- After making an initial assessment, repairers are fully entitled to refuse to repair an item they consider too dangerous, damaged or beyond repair. Visitors are responsible for the removal of items that cannot be repaired. Visitors should be aware that if any item for repair is still under warranty, then the warranty may be void.
- A maximum of ONE item per person is allowed in order to cut down on waiting time. If you have more than one item, you will need to join the back of the queue. We do not undertake to repair mobile phones or e-scooters.
- Potentially dangerous tools and equipment are present in the repair zone and sometimes used in repairs. Parents must always supervise their children during the session.
